Fun fact: you can't have your "homestead" taken away from you in a bankruptcy proceeding, in Florida. Used to live there. It's why many "celebrities" (I don't celebrate them) and politicians would purchase a ridiculously large home for cash, just before declaring bankruptcy.
Interesting to see it's still going on, I left there almost two decades ago.

What happens if you happen to have 3 or 4 of those "homesteads" in other states? Shouldn't the most recently purchased "homestead" be counted as an asset that can be sold to pay the debts in that case?

You can only declare one residence in Florida as your "homestead". I don't know about other states (i.e., "I didn't go into Burger King.")
