Agnes Nixon... creator of four soap operas and wrote for several more. There was a leading character named Victoria on One Life to Live who had multiple personalities resulting from incestuous childhood molestation. At the time, my friends thought this was ingenious writing to be able to pull a completely new villain personality out of an established character— One problem with soaps is that eventually you have to either prosecute the bad guys of kill them off, but when the actor has a large fan base and you want to keep the audience, options are mostly limited to either 'back from the dead' or the 'unknown twin separated at birth'. But with dissociative disorder in the storyline, they'd shuffle the alternate personalities to emerge or sink back as needed. Maybe it wasn't all that "ingenious" after all. Maybe Nixon was recreating what she knew in real life.
Her memoir was titled My Life to Live: How I Became the Queen of Soaps When Men Ruled the Airwaves, in hindsight, that is rather freaky.
