It was a sole source contract (ie non-competitively awarded). If he’s a black hat, this is not the smoking gun.

That's just the point. Their rules stipulate it has to have competitive bids. The bid was custom designed to only fit Amazon so that no one else could be considered. I have done government bids and know the rules. Mattis' underling got a lucrative job with Amazon upon completion of the deal, which was negotiated while he was still at the DoD. This deal alone does not make Mattis a black hat but the fact that he did it that way is an indication that he was already one before the deal was struck. Also, why was his dinner covered up and only revealed by accident through un-redaction? I smell bad blood but can't prove it. This is just one of my me reasons for suspicion, there are other reasons to doubt him that I don't want to get into at this moment.

I should have stipulated that I find the sole source nature of the award shady AF and have zero love for Bezos. However, if Amazons technology readiness level of AWS far surpassed that of its competitors, that is areasonable (and lawful) justification for a sole source determination.

However, I thought I saw an article about 6 months ago where a ?criminal? Investigation was launched by DOJ into this award- but I can find anything with a simple search.

Does this sound familiar to you (or anyone)?
