Yeah. He’s gonna go spend his retirement on the same New Zealand ranch as John McCain. I hear the trout fishing is world class there! God bless them!

He seems to be going nowhere. Did you read the Tweet? He leaving the board, but staying with the company.

After 18 years of board mtgs, I'm following coach Bill Campbell's legacy & helping the next generation of talent to serve. Thanks to Larry, Sergey & all my BOD colleagues! **Onward for me as Technical Advisor to coach Alphabet and Google businesses/tech,"

Here's the press release he links too.

https://abc.xyz/investor/news/releases/2019/0430/

After over 18 years on the Board, Eric Schmidt is not seeking re-election at the expiration of his current term on June 19, 2019. He will continue as a technical advisor to Alphabet.

Dude is 64 years old. Seems like he choosing what to focus on.

I read it, I just don't believe the reason he's giving. 18 years...why not hang on and make it a nice round 20? Couldn't have anything to do with election meddling or dragonfly, could it? Nah, just a cohencidence.

That’s still almost an average age (average was 56.9) for CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies. Adelson, Buffet, Penske, Werner, Miller, Zucaro are all at least 10-15 years older as CEOs. It could be health reasons or it could be that he just wanted to do something else like you said, or he could be needing to devote time to developing a defense strategy for what is likely to happen soon. Not a single mentally competent person believes Google hasn’t been doing shady illegal activities the past decade or more.
