Engines have changed dramatically over the past 100+ years, I remember attempting to work on the first computer cars and how much of a learning curve that was, already being in my mid 20s & started as a mechanic at 13 yrs old. Why aren’t they more efficient, that should be common sense, what would the oil companies do if ALL cars were getting 100 mpg? They’d lose out on ALL OUR MONEY!!! There was a man in the late 1960’s who developed a carburetor that boosted the power on a small block V8 Chevrolet and also got 70 mpg, he was bought out as was his patent, By Standard Oil and died 2 years later, coinky dink I imagine.
