It's a bit odd as they are apricot kernels but for some reason they're called bitter almonds.. From what I gather there is a cyanide compound in them that only reacts with cancer cells and leaves healthy cells alone. The compound is also found in apple seeds which is why 'professionals' advise not to eat them.. They have a dry bitter taste, not like normal almonds at all.

When I was doing research, I found out that the kernels in the US are baked or cooked so that they're ineffective, surprisingly.. That's assuming they can be found as they're also outlawed, I wonder why..

Ah, so it is, indeed, apricot kernels alias vitamin B17 / amygdalyne. Thank you for telling me. Yes, you wonder why in the US, they are baked. Must be to protect us. You want to bet? Hahahahaha!
