In 1931 Otto Heinrich Warburg won the Nobel prize for his paper "the metabolism of a tumour" .You may never have heard of that paper, but if you took high school biology, you might remember Kreb's cycle - the process of how sugar is converted to energy. In a shortage of oxygen it converts to lactic acid. Kreb was his colleague at the Planck Institute. It was collaborative work.

Warburg's work is dismissed today, because he was a half-Jew who maintained his professional standing under the Nazi government.
