True. If you discounted all the empty waiting rooms where CNN was playing 24/7, they would only have a few thousand real viewers, but expect resistance when you turn the volume down. I got tangled up with some nurses in a doctor's waiting room because The View was on, and it was making me sick. There were only me and two other ladies who had moved to the far opposite end of the room so I started looking for a way to turn the volume down. Suddenly, the sliding glass window whizzed open and the nurse said, "Can I help you?" When I told her what I wanted, she produced the remote control and turned the volume down one notch, but said they had to leave it up some because they discussed patients' private medical information behind the counter so there had to be something playing to cover the sound so we could not hear their discussion. They were literally using The View as white noise, but I could not get them to change the channel or turn the volume down more.
