The good/bad dichotomy isn't terribly useful in the realm of geopolitics. Russia has interests, and Russia pursues her interests. Those interests include resisting the decades-long encroachment of NATO, protecting her Syrian and Israeli allies (as paradoxical as that sounds), and constantly refusing to be baited into WWIII. Trump and Putin have deftly focused on those places where America and Russian interests align.
Why is America engaged in Syria? What good is NATO in the 21st century? Why are American taxpayers and the American military being used to pursue foreign conflicts?
America is not at war with Russia, and neither people want to be dragged into one. Noone benefits from radiological fallout.

First explain how Iran is less deserving of Nuclear tech than Israel, India, China, or Pakistan.
Tit for tat, really. When the US has a bioweapons lab in Georgia, Russia is incentivised to empower enemies of the US.
