Maybe California residents want out of that hellhole. They cant sell their homes because no one wants to move there. Their last option, burn it, make an insurance claim, get the hell out.

Ha! It's true. I've known some people struggling to sell their homes. Honestly, most norcal homes up here are dog shit. They're lenjust slapped together. Maybe they have a few layout accents beyond the rectangular house, but for the most part, it's just frames covered in sheet rock with carpet, tile, or linoleum flooring. Counter tops are factor, rarely granite, and likely not great looking granite. Cabinetry is from the 70s or 80s and likely nothing special. Houses would need some major remodeling, and the land already makes whatever house is on it, absurdly expensive.

To give you an example, I painted for the first time in my life on my own, an entire room. I've maybe painted a few times in my life time, and they're still thanking me, amazed by how good the job is. lol
