He filibustered until the time ran out before his "motion" could be voted on. I think he was in on it and knew that his Democrat luring sensibilities would get Kavanaugh approved.

I think his fake deal was necessary for a quorum. The bylaws say you only need 2 minority members, and they still had 5 after 4 had walked out. But I wonder if there is more to it or if more Democrats would have walked out as they started counting the quorum. So Flake came up with this fake deal, Democrats sat and were counted, then Grassley announced a vote on the original measure! LOL Bait and switch!

didn't see your reply before writing mine. I agree. i believe it was a gambit to get a quorum. To pass a nominee, you need a majority (11), two of which just be minority party.
