I think a couple of SRS fuckers hitched a ride in with the/r/pizzagate migration.

I went on v/ideasforvoat a couple days ago to ask for more restrictions on new accounts but it doesn't seem to be something people are open to

Alright, so, what can we do, outside of downvoting?

We know there is a network of fresh accounts that are (ab)using some sort of API, could we have @atko and @PuttItOut restrict the voting API calls only to people with API keys to try and make it harder for these bots to do what they do?

Here's a few ideas:
• Click "report spam"
• Tag/alert mods
• Call the OP out for the shit it is in the comments section, ridicule for being a faggot.
• Make an alerting post linking the user in subs like /v/ProtectVoat, /v/ReportSpammers, /v/ReportCTR, etc.

Click "report spam"

That messages the mods. But as @Cynabuns rightly said last time with the similar Wild_Bill_Hickock shite that popped up a few days ago, it's not "spam" per se. Best collect evidence like what's being done with these recent incidents and send it to admins directly. Mod teams from these subs targeting by these apparent bots might want to compare notes.

Ban new accounts from upvoting. It would be easy enough to write a script that changes IP/account and upvotes automatically.

@atko and @PutItOut may need to look at banning the shill accounts that are fueling these upvoat storms, if upvoat sources are tracked. The really sad thing is they may need further restrict new users upvoats to their CCP so atko and PuttItOut can root out this manipulation.

Banning accounts won't fix the issue in the long term. Restricting the API and throwing shill accounts/IP Addresses into voting restrictions would be more damning to them. Captchas and vote throttling would do the trick 80% of the time, but that's just a number I pulled out of my ass

That would work for about 30 seconds until they used selenium to work around API limitations by emulating actual browser actions.

Can confirm. It's all shit clearly trying to discredit the facts and sway the conversation and opinion of the people. It's an obvious fucking shill.

Im only 4 days here on this account, and looks likes there are some "quirks? "in the algo. Sometimes it lets me hand out a lot of upvotes and seems to jump 3 or 4 at a time. Way too quickly on posts that I doubt have enough traffic to see that.

Its actually just a "feature" when you click upvoat it shows you the number of people that upvoated, not the total voat balance. So factoring in 3or 4 downvoats, you see it "jump" but its not

@flyawayhigh, @Peglius, @Typo - pinging you as head mods of some of the most popular subs affected by these incidences. Can you please flair these suspect posts as "possible vote manipulated" or something similar as a warning? I understand these may not qualify for outright removal as "spam", but if you take a look at threads tracking these suspect users, you'll see the problem.

flair... that's an interesting idea that I haven't seen proposed yet.

I understand your concern. The issue is that it could lead to things being marked incorrectly. Thus causing more problems from users who feel targeted. Vote manipulation is an admin thing. They are the only ones who can be sure it is going on. If they put out a list of people engaging in it, then those users will have their posts flaired in /v/news

Why you are giving views, downgoats and comments to this shit ?
