I got a little suspicious when they started offering profile badges for bitcoin donations. You expect me to link my wallet to the ip, identity, opinions, and traffic I've already provided against my better judgment? Maybe I'm just a tad paranoid.

I thought about this too. This does seem like the best solution, but then the games with the filters will start. Since there are no mods, we will be responsible for our own filtering of the spam. Downvote/upvote will get abused. Mods will get abused as well (even if they manage to completely hide themselves in anonymity). From some of the reports I see, there are people working on it. So it will be quite an interesting platform to try out, and then to find out how it will get abused once more, but hopefully it will be a bit more sturdy than the typical mod shitfest.

That's why it's important to have places like this sub and participate ourselves and speak up.

Intervention by Atko, the philosopher king, to put the fear of God into anyone who tries a takeover. E.g., see how @She was destroyed.

This will only work if the admins are active and remain uncorrupted.

I noticed a pattern with these mods, I am not sure how or why. Perhaps its chemical. As power increases the amount of testosterone over long periods of time. Changing the composition of the brain, making is so that over time they become less sensitive to the community, more inclined to only mingle with their own social group.

They always isolate themselves, post less, become less involved with the community. And then the shitfest starts. Suddenly, instead of them reacting to the needs of the community, the roles reverse, and often a broken and narrow worldview is then enforced. Though is it is most of the time in line with the desires of a certain group on the outside...

Well the symptoms are always the same, but I am not sure if it really is biochemical in nature. Could be just increasing pressure from outside groups that is doing this as well.

But what surprises me most is that they NEVER talk about it. As they isolate themselves more, they are also less inclined to share more of their internal mind space.

Very interesting thought on this. Do you think they're being threatened somehow when they reach a certain position of influence?

Take a look at SJW's Always Lie by Vox Day. He talks about this and how it works with organizations. The key is that they always infiltrate and demand rules changes. That's the key.

They must have a place where the minority can exercise domination. So, no 'mods'. Use voting - accept the spam and vote it away or use tech controls to limit it while isolating those controls from human influence.

There's never a guarantee with anything: So long as the Admins remain active and intent on keeping this platform the way that it is now, I don't think we have to worry about any particular Subverse Mods (e.g., see @eggnogg, @aLLLie, @she).

We have to hold the admins to their promise of free speech. This site was declared a site where free speech reigned but as we all know a few mods on here decided free speech included things like question marks and "being nice". After a long battle that eventually led to this admin post: https://voat.co/v/announcements/comments/729257 we got what we wanted on the @system subs. Just don't let our guard down.

The "moderator polling"/elections is also mentioned in the post I linked above.

Yea that is a depressing reality, any kind of system will get exploited. Only mods that are in line with the community, can at least temporary provide a semblance of communally approved order, who then get demolished over time. It probably has something to do with the character of the mods.

The people who have the technical expertise to start up and run a site, dont have the character to resist the outside influences. And the people who have the character, dont have the technical expertise.
