O calamity! wretched flame
That struck just after Sunday Palm.
Who is at fault? Who is to blame
For setting fire to Notre Dame?
Scarce two centuries to erect,
'Twas made a ruin in less than a day.
None can grasp, no man can detect
The extent of our pain, or our dismay.
Glowing 'neath smoke billows visible for miles,
Our Lady's Cathedral is consumed by the fire!
And in Christendom there were no Christian smiles
To be seen when the blaze finally felled the spire!
When a monument to God's glory meets such a fate,
We struggle to do aught but despair.
We begin to think God may have been too late.
We begin to think life is not fair.
But of course life's not fair! Has God not said so?
This world is not called "temporal" without cause.
Empires rise and fall; monuments come and go,
But, always, God remains -- Him and His laws!
We are not made free so that we may cry,
Nor for the sake of surrendering to fate.
We are free so that we may evil defy!
To fight for the Lord it is never too late!
And so we must not mourn overlong.
This is no time for inaction or guilt!
We must again fight for "right" instead of for "wrong";
We must rebuild, and remember why we built!
I bid thee goodnight, Mother of God.
A shame thou had to this sorry sight see!
No matter what ground upon which we trod,
We will never forget Notre-Dame de Paris!

That's very good. The art, the beauty of centuries may be gone but the Truth remains. It was a symbol, but what it represented will go on and be strengthened. Thanks for writing and posting this. God bless.
