Got it! Butterfly orchid, also known as small purple fringed orchid; platanthera psycodes! Started leafing through the book on orchids at platanthera for the wide anther, and there it was! [edit: typo]

This looks like self heal from the mint family of plants.

My favorite related plant is actually a weed called ajuga
