I can make it so if their username begins with "A" it shows 12345, if "B" then 454545, if "C" then 424242, or any other sets of numbers, but not random and each letter would have it's own entry. They're case sensitive, so you need to make an entry for "A" and "a"

There's two ways. One allows it so you can click the number and it will still hotlink to the username. The other removes the linking feature where the only way to see the user is to disable CSS from the user's own settings.

Quick example for C and D because of the two replies already in this thread:

/**starts with C**/
a[data-username^="C"] {font-size: 0px;}
a[data-username^="C"]:before {content: '424242'; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold;}
/**starts with D**/
a[data-username^="D"] {font-size: 0px;}
a[data-username^="D"]:before {content: '67890'; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold;}

here's the before/after results https://i.sli.mg/4530gF.png :: https://i.sli.mg/aLJxtX.png

The second way if you don't want people to be able to hover over the number and see the username, is to attach the number to the next element that's not hotlinked: example

/**starts with C**/
a[data-username^="C"] {font-size: 0px;}
a[data-username^="C"] ~ .userattrs:before {content: '424242'; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold;}
/**starts with D**/
a[data-username^="D"] {font-size: 0px;}
a[data-username^="D"] ~ .userattrs:before {content: '67890'; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold;}

edit: you also need 0 through 9, for names that start with numbers. I could make the template up for you, but you would have to pick the numbers for each letter. Just let me know which style you want

Well I am one of the moderators for MohammedPics and obviously I would like to have some anonymity for posters to prevent doxxing/fines for hate speech. I dont want to select anon mode because then we will never make it to all/hot. So far the second way seems better. But then will people still be able to click the username and go to your user history?

for the second option, you won't be able to click the username/number at all to get to the user. If they turn off the CSS option in their user settings, all names are seen, yeah.

yes, but you will have the same number on every post/comment. the only way to have a randomized number is to set make it anon.
