As I've been reading more about it, I guess feline Kidney Disease is often separated into 4 stages? The vet said my cat's kidney levels "were elevated, but she has seen many worse cases". I would guess my cat is somewhere between stage 2 and 3 based on that.
I had 2 options:
1) Hospitalize her for 48-72 hours while she gets fluids via an IV to flush her kidneys at the cost of a few thousand $$$, but I would likely need to keep doing this if/when she gets sick again.
2) Give her fluid "under the skin" every so often and hope she is otherwise healthy enough to absorb it. This is much cheaper and eventually I can do it on my own.
I chose option #2 because I don't have thousands to spend on a pet, and it seemed to almost be the same as option #1 assuming she can absorb the fluids. She'll be getting the royal feline treatment, but I want to hear if you had a cat with this and how life was for him/her?
