Not surprising, sadly. Let me preface my next statements with this: My reddit account is 9+ years old. Prior to that, I lurked for 1-2.

Long ago, there was a lead mod there in Conspiracy that had been on the sub for /years/, that had installed a team of other great mods that ran the ship tightly, and thusly great content flourished there. A couple of years ago, there as an attempted "overthrow" of the sub mod team, but the regular users of it flipped their shit and bombed the place to the ground until the Admins finally had to put the original team and lead mod back in place.

Fast forward to 6 months ago. The long-time lead mod kicked out a "new" moderator that had recently joined the team after it was discovered they were pushing sliding tactics and deleting posts from well-established uses in the sub in an attempt to drive 'divide & conquer' tactics along and instill non-confidence in the mod-team. So, the lead mod kicked that new mod out and then banned the user.

Within a day or two, the reddit admins stepped in and then removed the original, lead mod for years moderator, all of their team, and then, in the original lead mod's place, put none other than the "new" mod mentioned above that was kicked out for being an all-around shill loving pos. This time around, unlike the Coup attempt a couple of years ago, the new mods successfully deleted all threads that were posted rejecting this blatant power grab and thus insulated themselves from harm. As well, attempts to reason with admins were met with suspensions and bans for users.

And thus, from that point on, r/Conspiracy has been an unusable place full of trash posts pushing /blatant/ agenda. Just as they had wanted it to be all along.

So, again, not surprising to see this, sadly.
