So I got to this large public playgroup with my daughter pretty regularly. They provide LOTS of different toys to play with.
They only have three baby dolls. All naked in a baby bath tub filled with water to for the children to bathe with a towel nearby to dry them too. I don't see them played with much.
My daughter took a fancy to them and had them all to herself and had fun bathing them, splashing their face (in the pouring over head way her swim teacher and I do to her at the pool) and playing with the water. She played with all three but took a real fancy to one. Other kids saw how much fun she was having and started to join in. Before she got crowded out she took "her" doll and moved somewhere else to play with it. She hugged it a lot and found a bottle and gave it a drink etc. It was so cute. 40 minutes later she is still playing with this doll. An Asian girl toddler wants to take it off her so as the other two are not being used I grab another baby doll and give it to the Asian toddler and she is happy too.
A little bit later a Indian [curry] girl about 7 years old or so asks if she could take the doll by daughter was still attached to and holding (although not actively playing with). I point to the third doll and say "there is another one over there nobody is using." She goes over. She glances at it. She looks around and under things, unsure if there is another, fourth doll I was referring to. Upon realising that this is it, she goes over to it, pokes it a couple of times and then stands up and walks away with a really disgusted look on her face.
The dolls my girl and the Asian girl were playing with looked something like this ... the closest picture that resembles the third doll, is this although this picture does not do it justice.
