I indeed was around at that time. I don't concentrate on celebrity or theater much and prefer to listen to the musical talent and songwriting ability. Some of that is technically definable but the recognition and appreciation of those is subjective to each listener.

Fair enough, agree fashion has little correlation with quality, which usually stands the test of time.

I have definitely seen some very entertaining concerts with lavish effects and enjoyed them immensely. I like to see the actual playing abilities of the artists when live though some pieces can't be presented live as many productions use the studio as an instrument in itself. I've seen many where the music on a recording doesn't fare well when the artists are not as effective as live entertainers, and the opposite where a concert is more entertaining than just the studio recording.
