Yes, I have enjoyed the submissions. There's something really appealing of hearing artists playing for themselves and a few others. No commercial interest or trying too hard to impress. The "soul" of the music seems to be paramount in these cases.

As to your last paragraph, I said the same expression to someone in a reply just a few hours ago:

Personally, I find it great we're talking about a song that's ~90 years old. It's a reason I'm passionate about music, as many others are, as it spans time, cultures, and brings people together. Thanks for your comments.

I love a jam session with people who have no aspirations of performing together as a group and only a small intimate audience. It's one of those times where you can truly just play and play with others with interactions that an audience might not even notice - or appreciate. It's not perfect replication, it's something different.
