So I was in Target when I ran across ready to eat meals by GoPicnic. Although unrefrigerated packaged meat and cheese sounds as bad as an elementary school field trip lunch, I thought it might be perfect for outdoor trips this summer.
There are a few different variations. I got the Salami & Cheese, which includes crackers, cheese, salami, chocolate cookie pieces, and a fruit & nut mix. It actually isn't half bad. Of course it isn't going to replace eggs and bacon over the campfire, but it would be decent for a quick hiking snack.
The boxes are only like 7x5x2, so they are super tiny. I ate 4 pancakes with it and was still hungry. I could easily eat 5 boxes in one sitting, especially on an outdoorsy day. I could see them as being a replacement if you're getting tired of the usual outdoorsy snacks. So by no standards would I call it a meal as the company does, unless you're giving them to kids (which may be the intention).
Have you guys heard of these or tried them? I just thought I'd let those of you interested know about it.
