Fountain of Sorrow, by Jackson Browne. I basically want all my songs to be that song. In an inspiration-type way, I mean. Not in a rip-off way.

Jackson Browne, so underappreciated. Doctor My Eyes, even if he'd only ever written that one song it would have been an awesome career.

Democracy by Leonard Cohen. Just amazing stuff with the imagery and the melody. I love songs that can put a pretty face on a melancholy theme.

Oh man... So many. I'm going to have to just go with Locomotive Breath.

Funny you should mention metal as Northcote by Blood Duster is probably the song I pick. Not so much for the song as a whole, but for the main riff. Holy crappers, that riff is near perfect to my ears. Link for the curious.

I wish I could have written East Hastings by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. It is so beautiful, and heart-wrenching, I just love it.

The American national anthem. That would make me a patriotic time traveler.

I wish I wrote any early t-swift song. So I could be the male version of her.
