Thank you for saying this. I was raised by a WW2 vet after my mom died and grew up with them surrounding me in my neighborhood. It was a retirement area. I was blessed to have them in my life. I remember my friends being bored living there. I found their knowledge captivating and a priceless gift. I hung out with them more than people my age. I just felt like I had more in common. Tinkering in Howie's garage, building furniture from scratch. He even taught me to read wiring diagrams. Planning and planting gardens. My actual Grandpa was tougher than anyone I had ever met. Still to this day. When I was old enough to drive I enjoyed going to the VA clinic with him and socializing with all the vets. The duty free shop was a plus also. I cry for them often and miss them very much. They where my past that shaped so much of my future. Happy Memorial Day Vets. You are very special and your sacrifices are not forgotten. At least not by me. Thanks for posting this.

No, thank you for your post. I come from a family of Marines, and hell even married a Marine (for a little while). Veterans and warriors hold a special place in my heart and always will. They are the literal blood, sweat, and tears that have helped keep this country strong and safe despite being used and abused.

Our memory keeps them alive. Don't cry for them, cheer instead.
