Today marks the third year that Putt has been with Voat! Queue grainy black-and-white reel of things Putt has done. (It would be a long reel!)
As we all know three years on the internet converts to approximately half a century in the real world, so this is a major milestone for Putt and for Voat as a whole. Putt climbed aboard the admin team of what was then WhoaVerse, and immediately his influence was felt. Most of us (myself included) were not around in those humbler times, but right from the get-go Putt began to assist Atko with the continued development of the website. WhoaVerse became Voat and Putt worked with Atko to guide us all through the Alpha stage, and more and more people began to flock to Voat as a last hope for Freedom in this world.
Personal and time issues plagued Atko, and he slipped away to lurk in the shadows, and eventually Our Beloved, Putt, took the helm, but not before leading us, of course in some cooperation with Atko, straight into the Beta phase of the website. As the new sheriff Putt has led us through bugs and exploits, waves of confused refugees, armies of alts and vote manipulators and spammers, rule changes to aid with our stability, all while staying true to this community's passionate dedication to Freedom of All Forms. Most recently, inspired by the community's response to a dire financial situation, Putt has spearheaded a move to port Voat entirely to an open source database that, when complete, will allow us to operate at a hopefully substantially lower cost.
One day Putt will golf again in a world where Freedom is not under such perpetual onslaught.
Let us all wish Putt a glorious Voat Birthday (or Voat Cake Day, whatever you want to call it), and let us never forget the efforts he has long -- and continues to -- put forth.
