If anything I think most good ideas come from the left - and I've been influenced by a lot of leftist thinkers. But he was good. I've noticed paleo-cons taking to him particularly - and leftists have even been known to write for paleo publications. But though I've read probably his two main books I don't remember all that much offhand.

It's not even close. I think it was Lionel Trilling (or Arthur Schlesinger - not sure) that said America's intellectual heritage is a liberal one. William F. Buckley started National Review fully cognizant of the dearth of intellectualism on the right. And the American scene is a fair chunk of the Western tradition by itself.

My position is more in the vein of Alain de Benoist than Scott Adams though. It is not the goals or principles of the left I usually like. It is their ideas and innovation. They are dynamic. I said most of the good ideas come from the left. That is true. But so do most of the bad ones. They have most of the ideas.
