Is Voat a fed nest?
Very possibly. Particularly in the system subs where brigading is possible. But this sub is an oasis from it. Their downvotes will have no effect on your CCP here.

I like Joseph De Maistre a lot. I don't think war is a divine thing though, but it is a matter of honor and safeguarding one's people at times. War being seen as a divine thing is the old thinking attached to the whole notion of Divine Rights.
I am not a believer in Divine Rights, but rather of individual and human rights. I think though the way that the Enlightenment went about instituting things was faulty. John Locke was good and Thomas Hobbes had his points, but ultimately I think Locke is our man. I actually never have read much of him because he is sort of dry and boring, but its all pretty simple logic if you ask me, but its practicality is questionable, but maybe that will change. I think though that ultimately things like war should be a matter of defense, as a neorealist, and not a matter of protecting economic spheres of influence and in the process geopolitical power.
The world is dangerous enough though that there is always a need to put geopolitical power first in the equation when it comes to waging war(which is exactly the kind of logic being used in Syria right now).
I think ultimately though one needs to balance things out quite a bit and try to ensure securing sphere of influence and geopolitical power does not dictate things or what you get is one bloated system.
We have enough power to keep the other foreign powers at bay, but our domestic and economic situation is not exactly so healthy, but Trump is at least trying to fix the economic situation.
