A few people try to say Arizona is a Southern state. More like Midwestern given the Germans. It has some Southernish history with being claimed by Southern settlers for the Confederacy and some early ranchers and politicians having Southern roots but even Barry Goldwater and Carl Hayden had a New England background. All more or less overwhelmed by post-war migration. The Cubs were the 'home' team here for years.
Also, a strong Mormon presence. Nothing too Southern about that.
