I don't think Trump is perfect or gets every decision right, but I think his negotiation and persuasion skill is very good and he's going to win many of these types of trade negotiations.
People were crying about his mean tweets about North Korea starting WWIII when that was actually part of the equation that brought them to the negotiation table. I don't think most people understand how he operates and most people are going to have dumb opinions on what Trump is doing.

Thinking that we're at a stalemate because both sides enact tariffs is a very surface level view of the situation. The US has leverage and a leader who knows how to use it.
It's the same kind of surface level view as "My god, how can he insult Kim like that. The madman is going to start WWIII!"That was my point of mentioning NK.
Anyway, as far as your list goes, things are different now in there are differences in what the US is doing (squeezing NK AND the private companies that cooperate with them like never before: think about what a big deal seizing big tanker ships is to private companies who try and send fuel to NK. There are many differences now).
