Fascinating, thanks! For what it's worth, and for those who don't know, the Sardinians preserve the genetics of old mesolithic Europe better than the rest of us. They have high proportions of the I2 male haplogroup (seen also in Yugoslavia, and with a related I1 branch found at high rates among Scandinavians and eastern Britons), which has since been replaced largely by R1b and R1a on the continent. Tantalising traces indicate they spoke a language closely akin to Basque before they learnt Latin (though the Basques themselves have more in common with their Celto-Latin neighbours genetically speaking). The Latin they speak preserves some interesting archaic features, notably in how they say "kent" instead of "sent/tsent/thent" for "hundred". Curious place and people. With nice chopped off Moors' heads on their flag, too!
