Even the White House has openly said it is overblown. That may very well be true but 'overblown' is not a word one uses to assert it is entirely fabricated.

That's a nothing response, expected. Consider that they're maybe behind this story in the first place? One thing Trump has done well from the beginning, probably owing to being in the media eye for 30+ years, is recognize that "bad news" is inevitable. He appears to have taken the lead on it and instead of waiting for something negative to come up in the press they feed it to the press and control it. Think of all of the "negative" Trump stories during the campaign that seemed to actually work in his favor... Now, consider you're Daily Beast and whomever and get a Trump insider feeding you juicy gossip about a supposed Bannon/Kushner rift and other shit. OF COURSE THEY"RE GONNA RUN IT. And their friends will repeat it and dance joyfully in the night. Time that with the Syria action and you can see what's going on - Trump Admin is creating a competing narrative in the media in order to dismantle the image that's been created. The russia narrative and Pres. Bannon crap is there because it makes it harder for Trump to accomplish things - they have to get rid of those myths in order to move forward. If I'm wrong, you'll know it soon and we'll all know it, but that's not consistent with their previous behavior whereas my suggestion is. They're playing a big league game here and the way the establishment/media has been pushed to suddenly be ok with Trump and spread idea that he's against Russia and that secret-white-nationalist Bannon is on the way out HELPS TRUMP. When they make a deal with Russia now over Syria it will be much harder to discredit. Two weeks ago if Trump made an agreement that got Russian sanctions removed he'd be fucking impeached. Today? Now it's possible. Understand yet?

That's an awful lot of speculation and my interpretation takes several fewer steps to believe but what you're saying is possible.
