I can recall having conversations about the Clinton administration at work in the 90s. But it was among coworkers. I was very young and inexperienced and I know I annoyed people but it was mostly older white women and it was contained. The browning of America and the nature of this new politics adds an explosiveness to the mix. Everything is racialized now and the tension of what I'll call enemy recognition is obvious just under the surface. Shortly after leaving that fast food place I had a black male give me the kind of dirty look that could have provoked a confrontation if I had wanted to go there.

Dark times are ahead. Be prepared.

I'm trying to remain optimistic, and hoping this is going to die down eventually, but the possibility of this going very badly is still in my mind. The vast majority of people don't want a race war, no matter how much the media tries to conjure one up. People just want to live their lives with as few interruptions as possible. I think the key to defusing this is showing that the freaks out there holding up signs and chanting are not the majority, nor are the journalists trying to whip up unrest. Most people just want to accept the results and move on with their lives, and we can't let a few lunatics hold back the rest of the population. The first six months to a year will be a delicate time, but past that I think it will be ok. Just gotta hold it all together for another 6 months! There's going to be faggoty protests for a long time, but they will just become an annoyance like traffic jams or bad weather.

The wildcard is the economy. It's the nuclear option of the elite. I wouldn't be surprised if they would rather collapse civilization than cede control. As you said, be prepared. Even if everything was great, it's always a good idea to be prepared.
