I collect unique journals that I find at marshalls and other niche stores. I never write in them though, I feel what I have to say isn't good enough for the journals I collect.

I had that problem too. I had various solutions. The main one was to dedicate journals to particular tasks. So one journal is just a daily events page, its supposed to be filled with "Here's when i woke up and here's how much a sandwich of lunch was, oh and i called kelly". Another journal for thoughts, this is where i let my mind wonder to talk to myself about how i feel about a book, or current event. Then a pocket notebook for quick stuff so i dont feel the need to carry around my other two all day.

The other thing i did was complete a wreck this journal. It really helped me get over ruining a nice neat book.

I have that issue as well. I have shit handwriting, and when I journal, I tend to write things like 'Well, I'm bored and hungry today again,' so I don't want to soil a beautiful notebook with my nonsense. :(

Yes! Exactly! And then if you don't fill up the journal, it's like a waste

I also used to feel that way. On the bright side, once you get over it and start filling all those notebooks you can go buy even more!

I have a notebook that operates as a journal, a notebook full of fun social stuff (think "specific television show drinking games") and one where I obsessively evaluate and re-evaluate all of my major requirements in the best and shortest amount of time.

Most of my notebooks are from the store I work at which sells unnecessarily beautiful notebooks so I am trying to figure out some cool new versatile uses!

I like going to thrift stores and finding sketchbooks or journals. I mostly draw and write down thoughts in them. Although a lot of the time, they are not really coherent thoughts, but words clumped together in some way. I like being able to see what's going through my mind, and sometimes we need that release of that buildup of thoughts dumped out onto something physical. And I think it's awesome how such a delicate piece of paper can be subject to thoughts and feelings of anger, hatred, love, creation.

My edc pocket notebook is the Field Notes. Good for notes, meetings, ideas. I tried out the Hobonichi. I enjoyed the paper and the formatting. But the small size was too thick for edc in the pocket, yet too small to justify carrying around in a case or satchel. Maybe if i had a medium sized purse it would be perfect. Next year im going to try the larger size as a desk journal/planner.

I've been curious about the Hobonichi for a while and had some reservations about the size. I'll probably do the same and order the large A5 size. Not understanding the daily quote might drive me crazy, though.

I keep a pocket sized notebook as a planner/BJ sort of setup. I mainly use it for to-dos and keep reminders in it. I am currently a housewife and writer in my spare time, so typically it all fits on one page/day. For my journal, which is more like a morning pages sort of thing, I write whatever I'm thinking about. I don't even write in it every day, just when I feel like it.

As for my writing related stuff, it's spread across quite a few notebooks. I honestly prefer to write by hand, and wrote half my novel that way. Of course, typing it up after is a pain, but I really hate staring at a computer for hours. I keep a notebook for ideas and one for short stories. Paper quality is really important to me since I use fountain pens!

For everything! Recipes, quotes, story snippits, thoughts, doodles, to-do lists! I just use dollar store notebooks though since I tend to lose them often..
