Racism is alive and well for those with red hair. Told that we have no soul(which may be true) just because of how we look.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've got red hair and never actually experienced anyone being a dick to me because of that. I guess it helps that pretty much everybody around where I live is super nice.

It's definitely not true that we don't have souls though, they just weren't ours originally.

Let's not forget kick a ginger day, or "ginger is only an anagram away".

Okay, I very strongly disagree with how some people treat gingers. But they are not a race. It is not racism. Red hair is a genetic aberration.

The actual reason for saying she appeared to be too sick to fly (I really wish I could remember the article that stated the opinion) was the flight was overbooked. Overbooking happens ALL the time and airlines need people to volunteer or they have to bump people. They were overbooked by 2 (maybe 3 but I can't recall) and couldn't get volunteers (for many good reasons besides hotel reservations, time lost on vacation, etc). Rather than lose the enormous amount of money (this is an expensive flight) compensating involuntary bumps, they realized they could just declare the girl looked "too sick to fly" and not have to pay anything. If it's a medical reason, they're covered legally.

They didn't expect the family would be able to produce the documents needed in time and had already pulled their bags. It was an incredibly shitty thing to do.

Not Scottish, but my life in a nutshell. Once at a new school teachers called my mom because they "thought he looked too pale and was anaemic".

After reading the article, meh. Airline ppl were doing their best to prevent a potentially sick person from infecting others, judgement call, went a bit OTT perhaps, shit happens.

Etihad is based at the United Arab Emirates, where almost everyone has darker skin, so a very pale person might be odd-looking for them. I'm not condoning the way Etihad's crew acted, but their ground crew should be instructed about the abundance of pale people in UK, and about the fact that pale skin is not equal to some disease. I wonder if they screen women wearing burkas for pale complexion. I bet they don't.

They are employees of an international airline. Seeing many different races, if they are too brain dead to understand that many Europeans are pale, than they must be incompetent employees.

To go along with what @Nordlingpeasant said, it was also in Manchester, England.

I'm not saying it didn't happen this way, but we're only hearing one side of the story, and it doesn't add up. She's not all that pale in her photo - there would be lots of people on the flight that looked that pale.
