Many have also pointed out another apparently unintended association with Nazi Germany: The boots share a name with a World War II military operation -- Polarfuchs, or Polar Fox -- in which German and Finnish soldiers captured the Salla area of central Finland from the Soviets.
I wonder if anyone at the ADL drives a Volkswagen or takes (or have ever taken) Cipro, Aspirin, Claritin, Xarelto, or Yasmin/Yaz...after all, all of the above have direct associations to companies that did direct dealings with the Reich. (The pharmaceuticals are products of Bayer, an offshoot company of IG Farben when they broke up after being found guilty of assisting the Reich at the Nuremburg Trials) If we're drawing guilt-by-association by names alone, why only do it half-assed?
The wheel of life is an ancient symbol, prehistoric really. It's been around for a long long time before the NSDAP used it as an auspicious symbol that was well known the world around at the time. (Similar to the cross being worn during the crusades.)

If the swastika pattern gives better grip, I don't see the big deal.
For anyone who's worked on slippery surfaces, the swastika is the last thing on your mind.
