Elevated rates of 5-hydroxynicotine metabolism to cotinine does not correspond to enhanced total nicotine uptake. This is simply a statement of enhanced expression of aldehyde oxidase -or, and I believe more likely, enhanced oxidation as a result of differential storage and treatment conditions of mentholated tobaccos. Regardless, nicotine itself is not especially implicated in carcinogenesis; rather, particulate matter, tars, and other compounds are to blame.

If you are a current smoker, I urge you to quit or at the very least switch to Eclipse smokeless cigarettes or vaporizers

There is evidence for cotinine increasing nicotine absorption and there is growing evidence for nicotine being linked to cancer as well.

Growing? They slap those nicotine and tar carcinogenic stickers all over Canadian fags already.
