Got into car accident. Almost died. I got fucked up pretty badly, pregnant wife (7 months) and 3 year old daughter ok. Both wife and I out of work. Her company lays her off, mine says stay out as long as you can, because we're going to do the same as soon as you get back. So, I get Disability from State, but fuck it, I PAID for that out of my check.
It's not much. After paying bills and rent, we have about $60/week for food for all of us. Daughter asks for Trix cereal, haven't had it since we were hurt. I bring calculator to store, and I'm figuring everything out. We have $2 left over. Sorry kid, no cereal. Can't.
This fucking 'family', consisting old black woman, 3 sheboons, gaggle of fucking grandkids--and guess who was running all over the store--are loading up their cart with all sorts of shit; meats, cans of whatever, of course no vegetables or fruit, though. And, before you ask, no, no males ANYWHERE in the picture over 10 years old. So, they're literally not checking what's going into the cart. Just 'Gibs me dat'.
We go to checkout, they're ahead of us....and guess the fuck how they paid for it. It was hundreds of dollars of stuff. All by food coupons. No shame, no remorse. It was owed to them.
And I have to count fucking pennies. I will never forget having to tell my kid (and mind you, I'm wrapped in bandages, it's fucking HARD to move around), sorry honey. I don't have the money to get the only thing you wanted--and it wasn't like she asked for much. It was cereal. $3.50 and I don't have the dough.
20 years ago, and I'm still fucking hot about it. Fuck these pieces of shit.

It's tough being on the K-selection side of things. If we're to survive we'll need to think outside the box. Multi-generational households, growing our own food, underground bartering economies to dodge the tax man, that sort of thing.

Amen. My girlfriend and I are going to live together this summer. I have a paid internship I'm looking at and also a blue collar temp job that would actually pay pretty well. She's going to look for part time jobs in the area and also do most of the cooking and cleaning around the apartment. I'm also really curious about making money, particularly non-convential money, on the side, and doing it in such a way as to be taxed as little as legally possible. For example my girlfriend is a fantastic artist and could work on commission, being paid in cryptocurrency, or she could do charcoal drawings of people's pets for credit on Simbi. That could bankroll, say, weekly martial arts classes for the two of us if we so choose. Also, I will probably have tutoring qualifications by then so I can tutor people biology or chemistry, for money, for cryptocurrency, or really for whatever.
She's also a nutrition major and has wanted to start a Youtube channel for a long time. So I was thinking we could start a lifestyle video series about shopping for and cooking healthy foods on a low budget, as well as staying in shape (hiking on the weekends, bankrolling martial arts classes with odd jobs, etc). We'd post it to Youtube, Squidoo, Hubpages and so on.

cut out the information on voat.
voat is a datamine.
walking dogs, good. pet sitting good. house sitting good.
martial arts classes = bad. a penny saved is two pennies earned, do not waste money on that crap. if you have two people, you can spar on your own and save the money.
cryptocurrency is bullshit and trackable, just use real money ffs.
if your girlfriend is decent get her pregnant and collect the welfare, she could be having your babies......... just do it and collect the welfare.
