Oh man, that reminds me, I was at Eve dinner and a woman who has been coming to my dad's dinner the past couple of years was talking up 23andMe which is now in Canada. Besides ancestry, she was saying that the test tells you all kinds of shit about how you metabolize caffeine, alcohol, what genetic diseases you might get, etc. She also said that you can give them a fake name so they can't track you.

I was intrigued after that, since some people have been a bit paranoid about letting the people who run these companies have your info...though I don't know how you could give them a fake name when your real name should be attached to basically any payment method you use.

You can ask them to delete all information about yourself

They say that the dna tube isn't labeled, which it isn't. There's only a sku number for it which they say is how they catalogue it. But your name is in their database, so they know you're in the database, but I assume they can't tell tell which is yours.

Then how do they send you the right results...?

To be honest, I would probably get it even if I knew for certain that they are going to have my info. If society gets to a point where it would be terrifying for someone to have that info on me, we'll probably be required to turn in a vial of blood or spit anyway, right?

My dad actually gave me enough money for Christmas to cover the test, so I think I will do it.
