thanks for taking the time for the write-up. I'm guessing you'll find this offensive, but every time I've looked into Mormon theology with Moroni and Joseph Smith and the golden tablets and all that jazz, it strikes me as profoundly silly (not that Mormonism is unique when compared to other religions in this regard). But I really want to be part of a community that believes in strong healthy white families. It's a paradox of human nature that logically I have trouble accepting religion (having been an atheist in the past, and now more of an agnostic), but I recognize that religious people are often some of the most positive and well-adjusted folks. For better or worse, I think the human animal has evolved to benefit from a religious mindset, and yet our ability to reason means it's very hard to "force faith".

Maybe just living near a Mormon community would be a good thing? Or would my family face constant pressure to convert?

I don't live in an area where the make up of the population is mostly Mormon. I really doubt you would have any problems with Mormons trying to convert you. In the end, they are just like everyone else. Most are conservative in nature and mind their own business. Once in a blue moon, as you got to know some of them they might mention something related to religion to try and encourage someone to visit their church. But I highly doubt any experiences you would have with Mormons would be as negative as you think.

Nothing you wrote was offensive to me. The reasons you previously mention were the same reasons why I stopped going to church.

This is my current dilemma.

I used to be Mormon. And I know for a fact that the best chance I have of raising a happy, healthy white family is by essentially pretending to be Mormon again. Would it be worth it? Perhaps.. I would just feel so wrong.

Side note.. If one were to believe that there is an inevitable collapse, then being around Mormons is definitely your best bet.

Why do you say that?

One thing I've often reflected on, is I suspect probably a very high percentage of religious leaders - pastors, priests, imams, etc - aren't really believers at all, but either think religion is helpful to the masses, or are just con artists.
