This is necessary because Voat is a US corporation, unless that has changed. It is bound by these laws.

Although this is a self post, I will allow it because other people probably wont understand why that is there.

Could you make a sticky post explaining which laws you are enforcing? At least give some transparency so people don't think you're just enforcing your own opinions.

Voat is a US corporation and has users who live in the U.S., so it has to follow US law. If I see content that is clearly breaking U.S. law (e.g., some types of porn) it would ge deleted and the user banned. Free speech isn't absolute. I would encourage every sub to follow the same guideline. Not only for the benefit of the sub, but for the protection of Voat itself.

I would recommend reading up on what is allowable speech within the U.S. That would give you a good guideline.

However because this sub is now focused on the posting and discussion of scholarly articles about hate speech, I doubt this will be put to the test very much.
