old SF trick for A/C if you have access to water. take a blanket and put it in a window or doorway where the wind blows into the building in an area you are staying in, but the bottom of the blanket in some water or dig a hole about 3 feet deep and place the bottom of the blanket in that and the top hanging up in the area the wind blows. water from the ground or from a container will seep up the blanket, and as the wind blows it and dries it out, it will reduce the temperature.

won't be a whole lot, but it cools down a little bit, and adds humidity to an arid environment. anyhow hope this info helps you out.

That is clever, thank you. Probably the most low-tech way I've heard of but I can see it being effective. Extremely cheap, too.

oops i forgot, with the hole in the ground you gotta fill in the hole after you drop the blanket it, just shovel the dirt back in.

or get fancy and set some plastic sheets on the ground so that they tilt toward the blanket and bury those with the blanket. make sure they are at least 2.5 feet down.
