Someone PM'd me thread here about myself trying to explain things how they are in Russia when it comes to "gay propaganda". After reading few threads here I can't do anything but laugh at the irony, where thought police on neogaf is so brutal that people go here to vent there frustration under the false names. It's clear as day that disgruntled people on NeoGaf come here to vent their frustration. Else why I was sent the link (won't name the user).
I am a member since 2013, came there for game forum and E3 dank memes. Was really good place, since I didn't bother visiting off-topic. It all lasted until GamerGate when off-topic crowd that has nothing to do with gaming came to Gaming side to push their agenda. I mean I would understand if discussion was biased, but it came to the point where posters, good posters got banned just for voicing different point of view, being as polite as possible and then dog piled by people who have 10k+ messages in off-topic and that I never ever saw in gaming before GG thing. I think this is when industry workers bar few indi devs just GTFO from NeoGaf. You won't see anyone of importance there anymore, they are all inactive for months if not years. I guess it's natural flow of things, where people would flog towards more open formats like Reddit and such.
While I don't like whole tinfoil hat aspect of "Jews did it all" or straight racism from some people of this place, I get why people would be as racist as possible just to spite Neogaf off-topic community and to be that counter weight to toxic SJW culture and inability to accept any point of view other than their.
I don't really care about hiding my name, that's why I am posting with same username as on NeoGaf. It might be stupid to do so, but I don't really care. Also saw some people interested in this topic, so if you have any question about russian society without sugarcoating, you can ask me and I will try to provide no BS answers, even for NeoGaf I had to be as polite as possible since I know how ban-trigger happy some mods are in the discussions that concern "sensitive" topics.
Edit: Damn, that was fast, checked NeoGaf and I got a ban, I am not sure if someone saw me here and banned, or if it's just a ban from Putin interview discussion unrelated to me showing up here, but I visited Gaf couple of hours ago and I wasn't banned yet. It's not perma-ban, but 1 months one saying next one will be permanent. Unless they change to permanent, I guess will fuck off from Off-topic and let some people there enjoy their echo-chambers.

Depends on part of Russia. Western and Central Russia has excellent internet. Lot of ISPs and competition, which drives quality up and prices down. In St. Petersburg where I lived (I am currently working in China), I had fiber with 100Mbps download and upload for around 35 euros a month with unlimited data, that was in 2009 before I moved to China. Latency was also pretty good, I would get 10-15ms to Scandinavia (i.e. CSGO servers) and 40-50ms to UK. So overall couldn't complain about internet. Eastern Russia is much worse when it comes to internet, some parts of it can't even get landline and have to resort to 4G LTE.
Although 4G is pretty good overall in Russia, most popular 4G LTE ISP - YOTA has unlimited data plans for 4G with very good coverage. Back in 2009 you could get 30Mbps DL and 10Mbps upload unlimited 4G plan with pocked Wi-Fi access point for around 200EUR a year, so less than 20EUR a month. Although if you would to pay monthly, they wouldn't give you free portable access point and you would need to pay something like 25-30EUR a months, which is not too bad for unlimited data 30Mbps. I am not really sure about prices and speeds now.
Now from friends I still in contact with I know they upped the speeds in general and prices went down by a lot due to RUB depreciation. My cousin has 150Mbps upload and download and pays around 21EUR if you convert currencies.
Vegemite - I heard about it. I mean it's pretty common internet meme/joke about terrible australian food. Never tried it myself.

Damn man, Russia has better internet than Australia. Right now where I'm at (inner city of Brisbane) best I can get is 11Mbs down and 1Mbs up. They are meant to be rolling out a National Broadband Network offering speeds up to 25Mbs down and I think it was 10Mbs up. It's such a joke.
What kind of work do you do if you don't mind my asking?
Haha Vegemite is yummo as long as it's with a dairy product like butter or cheese to smooth out the bitterness. Does Russia or China have an equivalent to Vegemite?
I remember playing the original counter strike with Russians and the old Alien vs Predator. Always good fun despite the lag. I'd have google translate open in alt tab so I could learn a few basic sayings and get a laugh out of them.

I work in a big commercial bank here in China.
Do you mean Megabytes per second or Megabits? Different things. I know about Australian issues with the internet, since I played some WoW back in 2010-2012 with Australian guild. I am sure some of them actually now have 100Mbps internet (which is like 12MB/s if you count in bytes and not bits), at least I remember them saying they got 100Mbps when NBN rolled out near them.
Also hard to tell about Vegemite since I can't really say if I know the flavor and if anything of similar flavor is available in Russia. So really impossible to tell. But if you mean general weird food that locals like and foreigners don't - China has plenty of that. Russia? I think maybe only one dish. I know foreigners are terrified of trying it, even though some western europe cousins have similar dishes, at least had few hundreds years ago, according to Wikipedia. It's called Холодец (Apsic according to wiki). Mainly made from pork and pig feet. You can google it.
