They have no arguments. They have no policies to get out the vote. Their name-calling and slurring isn't working the way it used to. People are turning against identity politics. They're dead in the water.

...unless they can provoke a conflict. Then the arguments they can't defeat are sidelined. Then all their hysterical screaming about "literal violence" becomes partially true (only because they provoked people into defending themselves, but they'll lie about that too), and many ignorant fence-sitters will be convinced by what they see absent context. And then they can ride that huge victimhood wave into getting what they want.

I honestly think that's what they want. They believe they have both outcomes of a civil war covered: if they win, they win, and if they lose, they become mega-victims and they still win through manipulation. Honestly, I would prefer we just share the country even if we disagree with each other. It's worked pretty well for over 200 years.
