A podcast called It Came From The Internet, did an episode about it.
They had a point where speed ruining is inherintly a solo experience. other professional gamers are in genres or conditions that require interacting with others, EVO can be traced to playing cabinets at an arcade with others, FPS tourneys, you don't see 1v1's, MOAB's are not solo games, ect.
Speed running on the other hand, is purely solo, it's just you trying to get a better time than your previous attempt.
Thus comes the point I am trying to make. Threes players have no one to talk to. They have a fan base on twitch or tumblr, and are one the internet a lot looking up new strategies, and cone across transgenderism. They think"hey I am weird maybe u am trans." And they have noone in their lives to really trek them, "no your just odd, which is fine mostly, but you are not transgender. Went do you feel like that anyway? "
They have noone in their lives to have real, deep conversations with them.

Here is the podcast episode I mentioned
