Just like at KiA and all there stupid new rule changes, they just mope and claim rules are rules, there's no fight in those betas. Some are leaving for KiA in voat, but it's the same mods.
GAF still has a big enough industry footprint to draw in unique visitors which is what fuels the actual site not the people who have accounts and post. That is changing rapidly though. Tyler is already stepping up the ad revenue exploitation to even greater heights so you know income is down. GAF has had a deluge of bad press over the last couple years, this last year specifically.
The bullshit only goes so far before the train goes off the rails. Look at Gamefaqs, had 10k+ users on during prime time around 2007 and now struggle to hit 4k because of similar bullshit. GF was the original site to ban people en masse for trivial things.

Habit, lack of choice, and people with like minds gravitate together. For some reason people still think gaf is a special place where insiders and developers hang out. It is no longer that, but they can't see it.
How there isn't an acceptable alternative to gaf is hard to believe.

Outrage. It can't sustain itself forever though. They're already not invited to E3 and they'll continue to sink into irrelevancy.

They're beta and liberals.
Look at this Twitter thread, he got a 1 month ban in the Anita poster thread for stating he thought they were photoshopped:

Not sure if the full thread displays so here's the ending and they're still apathetic:
