Why is it that the nanny state will step in and try to ban\discourage any "dangerous" behaviour, from drinking soda to riding a bike without a helmet, because the resulting medical conditions are a burden on society, but won't do the same for sodomy, which causes infections (HIV, syphillis, etc.) that cost society a fortune in treatment?

I read that during the worst of the AIDS epidemic, leaders in the gay community refused to ask homosexual men to refrain from sodomy, even though that would have saved countless lives. And yet we tell women right now to refrain from intercourse because of the zika virus.

When will there be a Spotlight-like movie on those gay leaders' responsibility in the spread of AIDS in the eighties?
