Cater to system or talent.

Sometimes the best defense is a defense that only plays 20 minutes a game. I think Ingram could help make that a reality.

I see where going but it would require a complete refit since it the GCO and kill system favors interchangeable receivers and solid three step passing guards being favored over premium edge rush blocking tackles both sets of which would be undermined b a true feature back. For better or for worse that's what we've got right now. Obviously changes are coming in the off season. Even though the rumors out of NOLA are saying the tension in the locker room has greatly improved I still think it's possible the Payton is gone, and with him the GCO. If he stays we certainly will stick with it in some form, but Payton is a smart enough offensive mind to evolve it and will. Could it evolve it enough to allow a true feature back? I don't know. If I knew Xs & Os that well I probably would be sharing my theories someplace more high profile than reddit/r/fatpeoplehate2.0

I def think there's something too what you're saying, as Peyton had a similar issue trying to run Kubiak's offense... but I think Brees is well rounded enough that he could play with a feature back whereas Peyton at this point cannot. I do think that Brees has Atlas syndrome where he thinks he has to score 50 so he throws 3 picks and then he has to score 50 to make up for the picks. I think he'd much more effective at 30 pass attempts than 40 every week.
