The easy one is Dallas falling from 2-0, but everybody knows that's going to happen. A slightly riskier pick would be Carolina. I just don't think they have enough depth on offense to last through the whole season. Atlanta wins that division (which I picked at the start anyway), and the Pantloads slip into mediocrity by the end of the year, going something like 7-9. While I think the Clots (spelling intentional) will rebound and win a shitty division, they've still been exposed, and have no chance at winning a playoff game barring significant players on the opponent getting hurt.
Clearly Seattle is the easy pick for an upswing, that doesn't really need an explanation. My surprise pick is going to have to be either Washington or Minnesota. One of those teams is going to be in the playoffs. Yeesh. I think in the case of the Redskins it's a matter of playing in the worst division in football. Did I just write that? About the NFC Beast? Unbelievable. As for the Vikings, Mr. Bridgewater has to like being able to put the game on someone else's shoulders. Someone with something to prove. Playing so angry he could beat a small child.
Other significant questions:
Will Peyton survive the season or have his career unceremoniously ended by injury when one of the legs on his walker gets caught in the feet of a lineman?
Will Delaware's finest lead a now offense-first Baltimore back to the slaughterhouse in Foxboro come January?
Can The Beard be the next Chad Pennington in northern New Jersey and get Gang Green a playoff loss?
Does Eli know where he is right now?
At what point will Saints and Iggles fans begin throwing trash onto the field?
Who will lose to the Patriots in the AFC Championship?
Do the networks have to bring in extra staff to clean the jizz off the windows of the broadcasting booth after every Aaron Rodgers game?
I can't wait to find out the answers.
