It goes much deeper than just King Midas. It refers to sacrificing children to the bull headed Minatar that Midas kept trapped in his labyrinth. The Midas myth means sacrifice ones children to the bull headed MLK to receive gold and Earthly privileges. It was originally meant as a warning, but later mystery schools took it as a guide book.
