We do need to make sure we don't have submissions that bleed into the 3D animation category.
Obviously motion graphics are not just 2D, but I think it makes sense to omit examples of fully rigged character animation,
extremely realistic 3d environments, and things of that nature. Remember, at the core of motion graphics as a digital art form is animation & design. We want to explore typography, design, shape, movement, form, scope, and color in both the 2d and 3d pictorial space.
But, we might want to omit game art design, film shorts, subcutaneous light scattering for realistic skin, hair renderers, etc.--areas of digital animation where we might miss out on the artist's sense of calculated design. We can find where that line is together.

I don't know nearly enough about the technical side of animation. Physics engine or is it all keyframes?

This animation could be a number of techniques in combination. I'm sure there was some hand sketching at first to block out targets for the animation. There also might be some simple fluid plugins at use as well. My guess is that these are just vector shapes carefully constructed and efficiently animated on top of a sketched animation draft. A lot of that 'slicing through' effect could easily be created by by pulling one vertice through a circle vector. The rippling effect on the water/yellow portion could easily be made by using a standard Ripple effect in AE. The mastery of this comes in when you have to integrate all these techniques seamlessly. I am not absolutely positive on any of this but I'd love to hear from someone that might no more specifically what plugins or techniques are in play here.

What did you think it said? I read it quickly as "liquid poop" just a second ago.
